Interdisciplinary workshop - SSSI and NERSC - 4 Nov 2021

The workshop was a side-meeting to the Svalbard Science Conference 2021. The workshop/ side meeting was organised by Lisbeth Iversen and supported by Svalbard Strategic Grant.

09.30 Chair’s welcome by SSF representative, SSSI Board and project leader from NERSC

09.45-11.00 Meet and Greet. Get to know each other and our ongoing research better.

11.00-11.45 Short presentations from project representatives: CAPARDUS, CULTCOAST, SVALUR, BalancingAct, Tipping+, Face-It, SSSI, Nunataryuk and PRISMA ( 5 minutes each)

11.45-12.30 Invited speakers: Eugene Guribye, NORCE: Keynote on co-creation in research. (Digital) and Hilde Fålun Strøm, Hearts in the ice: Citizen science building bridges between research and society.

12.30 Networking lunch

13.30-14.30 Roundtable discussion of project overlaps, data sharing, and coordination of activities.

14.30-15.00 Invited speaker Grete K. Hovelsrud, Research Professor, Nordland Research institute. Co-producing knowledge for a sustainable Svalbard: Pitfalls and Surprises.

15.00-15.30 Coffee break

15.30-17.00 Roundtable discussion on synergies and future research proposals on relations between society and the cryosphere based on the thematic approaches in the proposal to Svalbard Strategic Grant. (Will be presented in the meeting)

17.00-17.15 Review of meeting and closing of workshop; scheduling next meeting.
